Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do family, child or couple's counseling?

No, I work with adults in individual therapy only. Family, child and couple's counsling require more specialized skills and training, and I highly recommend people find therapists that have focused and trained in these specialties in order to get the best experience.

What is your availability and do you do in-person therapy
am 100% telehealth, all meetings will take place over video-conferencing. I do not do any in person therapy at this time. My work hours are Tuesday - Fridays.

What is the free online consultation like?

The consultation is an online video meeting where we can discuss what issues you are struggling with, talk about what you are looking for, give you the opportunity to ask me any questions It allows us to get to know each other a little order for us to decide if we may be a good match. We also assess to make sure your needs are appropriate for telehealth as opposed to in-person therapy. Not sure what to ask? That’s ok! I have you covered.

How do I sign up for a consultation?
Click on any of the "Free Consult" buttons on the website, and it will bring you to my online scheduling platform. There you can check availability for the next two weeks, and sign up. If you don't see any spots available, that means that all of the available spots for the next two weeks are booked. Please check back weekly, to see current openings.
If you don't find any spots that are available that work with your schedule, you can go to the Contact Form and send an email, letting me know that you'd like to schedule a consult, and give me your availability. I will work with you to try to schedule a consult that works for both of us.

What are your fees?

Fees are $150/session.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. I currently take UBH/Optum, Cigna and MHN health insurance. Please call the Behavioral Health number on the back of your insurance card to double check your mental health coverage, and confirm that I am in your network. Behavioral Health benefits can get confusing, so it's best to confirm.

What if you don’t take my insurance?

For clients who want to use insurance that I do not take, I can also provide a superbill to clients. This means that the client pays the full fee at time of session, and then they can present the superbill to their insurance company for possible reimbursement. (I highly recommend clients call their insurance companies to check if they have Out Of Network services, and what they cover before choosing this option as not all insurance companies will reimburse for clients not in their insurance panel, and the amount can vary widely from plan to plan.)

Do I need to fill something out before we meet?

When you sign up for the online consultation, you'll receive a link to the client portal, to fill out a consent for telehealth consultation form. If we decide to move forward working together, you will need to sign some intake documents, including informed consent, privacy practices, demographic and payment processing information. All forms can be signed online in the portal. If you have any questions or concerns about anything in the paperwork, you can let me know and I will be happy to answer or discuss prior to initial session.

What will the first visit be like?

The idea of a first visit can seem really overwhelming, but I will work to make it as comfortable and peaceful as possible. Generally, it is a time for us to discuss what is currently going on in your life that you’d like to work on, discuss goals, and get started with forming a plan to move forward. There may be some discussion of pertinent personal and family history, particularly if you are using insurance as I will need to complete paperwork following the insurance guidelines. Any questions or concerns can be addressed at any time in this process. We will also address important items for getting the best experience from telehealth.

How does Telehealth Work?

Therapy would be provided through a secure and confidential video link, which is provided prior to each session. For more detailed information, you can download a helpful informational booklets linked below. Answers to any questions you have can be provided as needed.
